Huck

Meet Huckleberry, whom we call Huck. He’s our new 10 week old Bull Dog / Jack Russell / Lab mix (Bull Jack Lab). He’s a rescue with a few separation anxiety issues. The first 10 weeks of his life were pretty rough.

I don’t know if I could be any more in love with him. The cats are adjusting pretty well. Oprah (top right) thinks she has a new best friend. Bliss (aka Sir Fluffy Butt) is being super dramatic with him, but is slowly coming around. We got him last Sunday and in the last 4 days of having him I’ve been WAY more active. I’m hitting nearly 8k steps a day without working out. (That’s my Feb goal. Don’t judge me.) His breed will be active, which is awesome because it’ll force me to exercise even when I don’t want to. Plus, I’ll have a running buddy. He should max out at about 45lbs. Huck and I have been braving the cold and walking to burn off some of that puppy energy.

Honestly, Huck is meeting that maternal need I have currently. It’s a welcomed feeling and will help with the whole “taking a break” for the next 6 months of so. I opted out of the surgery. I can revisit that idea in 6 months, but right now, I need a break from Dr. Appts, Ultrasounds, shots, and pills. I need to focus on me, my marriage and just being healthy.

menuplanI am choosing good. Kevin and I are still choosing good. We are 8 days into the New Year and I’ve stuck to my AM/PM Beauty regimen. I am meal prepping and planning. I am eating healthy and staying active. It’s only 8 days, but it’s 8 days more than I’ve been doing. It’s a refreshing change of pace.

We are 8 days into the New Year and I feel good.

How are you doing with your goals?

  1. Oh my gosh, Huck is so freakin’ adorable!!! Oh and I love the names of your cats too! 🙂

I need some of that energy Huck has. The cold weather is definitely winning here… I want to go out but my pups just get too cold way to fast. They just end up sitting down and not wanting to move. Hopefully we can get out soon! I wanna go back on walks! Good job on your walking accomplishments! 🙂

  2. Such a cute pup! My dog, in her younger years, definitely forced me to be more active. We got up to 1 hour walks a day. Now that’s she’s 14, it’s more like 20 minutes – but still better than sitting on the couch!! Have fun with your new fit buddy! 🙂

  3. aww so cute! I really need to get to the 10k steps a day but it is really hard when it is FREEZING (-28C/-18F) and the spin bike doesn’t count as steps on my pedometer!
My goal is to track my food 300/365 days this year, at least. I’m working on making it a habit because I know it works to help me make good choices.
Best of luck with everything this year, and please keep posting puppy photos!
