Now that I have your attention I’d like to share my thoughts on sports bras. SockPuppet asked so I’m answering! Sports bras are so important for my fellow big busted ladies.
I once wore three sports bras when going for a run to avoid the inevitable bounce. I avoided all high impact exercise (I’m talking about you Jumping Jacks) and dreaded the uniboob. I was sad and discouraged. I was in a lonely, dark place and angry with my boobs. Angry that I’ve lost all this weight and still struggle to find good bras. At my first tri I wore two sports bras, a swimsuit (with a built in shelf bra HA!) and a compression tri shirt. All it did was create layers for the green lake junk to seep into. I was so frustrated that I went on a search for something that would actually work.
And then I found it: Freya Women’s Active Underwire Sports Bra
This baby goes from a 28D to a 38HH. Each cup holds its own boob (no uniboob here) and it has an under wire! Praise Jesus! There are sturdy straps, not those tiny pieces of floss. Can I get a church clap?! There is wicking material and even color choices! ERMAGHERD – color choices for atypical sizes! There is lift and support – not compression and suffocation. Preach! Most importantly, there is an actual three/four hook closure on the band (depending on size) so none of that ridiculous trying to climb into it, getting stuck, can’t breath, one boob above your forehead and tears streaming down your face, collapsing into your bed dance.
Yes, there are seams and if you’re wearing a stupidly thin shirt you’ll see them. HOWEVER – no bounce! No black eyes! No flippity floppity, bippity boppity titties! Can I get an amen!?
Yes, it’s a little pricy, but if you have big tits and do a lot of high impact activity – you know it’s worth it. I actually recommend Freya’s Bras in general. They range from a 28 inch to a 58 inch band and an AA cup to a N cup and have ridiculously cute styles. Mind blowing to me. Great quality and hold up well. I just understand the plight of big tits and lack of cute bras.
If you’re not quite ready to ball out and drop $60 on a sports bra (though 100% worth it) and find $35’ish to be better, I also recommend this baby: Champion Women’s Spot Comfort Sports Bra
. This goes up to a 42DDD. I bought a 38DDD and it works well. If it’s a uniboob bra I tend go down a size for maximum stability. Sturdy straps and a back closure. I dont feel like the wicking material is as good as the Freya
, but otherwise – this is a good runner up.
HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!!!
Amen! I’m going shopping!
Girl! A good bra is life changing! 🙂 I’ve found Freya cheapest on Amazon, but Nordstrom does sell them – and most specialty bra stores.
When I find a good one, I tend to buy quite a few. I have yet to stumble upon a good sports bra. I’m one of the ones that wrestles myself into them and has to pause to catch my breath. Thank you for the suggestions.
yes, I was doing the delightful bra shuffle too until I discovered these. And thank you for reading! 🙂
I love a sports bra with clasps rather than a racerback style for exactly that reason…I always get stuck in it somehow!
I personally like the Wonderbra sports bra for my 34/36 C/Ds (depending on the weight that particular moment. It is also a good value because they go 40% off at Sears quite often, coming in around $20 or so. I usually wear it with a shirt with a built in bra and it is like fort know for my boobs. I wish I’d been wearing one for my tri…I thought the super tight bathing suit would squish me enough. I was WRONG. Ouch.

The problem with that type of bra for me is the cup isnt big enough. It’s the “size” it’s suppose to be but I end up with squished boobs and then the bottom band comes up and lord almighty – just a nightmare!
I’m so glad you found one that works for you! Emphasis on “one”…getting in and out of 3 of them seems like a workout in itself.
Just the advice I’m looking for! Thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could be of help! 🙂
These are awesome. They are the only ones I use when working out. Everything stays where it belongs. Plus they are way more fashionable. I swear the fashion industry doesn’t get that you can be overweight and still care about style. Instead they just pump out sports bras that would make the old Soviet Union proud.
I wish India had such great bra options for plus size girls. Thanks for stopping by my blog and being the first person to encourage on my new journey
Hmm…you may be able to order them through amazon. I’m not sure. That’s kind of the beauty of amazon – sometimes you can find things there you never find in stores.
Omg! So glad someone else understands my love for Freya!
Thanks for the info. My current sports bras strangle me like a straitjacket when I put them on because they roll up in the back. LOL
Yep, I experienced that too before I switched over to these. lol
This is my next purchase!! Right now I have the Ennell sports bra which is great for controlling the jiggle and uber comfy, but so very ugly (there are 12 clasps in the front!!). Thanks for the lead!!
Yes, I LOVE the Freya bras. Amazing!
I’ve heard about the Ennell’s and the 12 clasps. LOL
